Hello,
I’m Alan Barnes and I’ve been working toward developing a few different podcasts for the last few years, and after all this prep time, I’m finally ready to begin!

The first podcasting idea I’ve been working on is where the name of the company came from: Virtual Sequential/Sonic Art is basically a modern version of a comic book. So, the first story I’ve finished in this format is going up this week. It’s a 20 minute movie broken into 4 ‘episodes’, published weekly.

The next podcast I’ve been developing is a traditional audio podcast, basically an audio blog in the round table format on the subject of artistic music. It’s called ‘Who Cares if you Listen?‘, and it will be available on it’s own feed, but VSA is an all-encompassing project.

I’ve also made a short film I’ll be podcasting in a few months.

But I’m really excited about the modern comic book stories in the format I’m simply calling VSA stories, and I look forward to sharing these productions with you.

So, what you should expect on this feed is everything connected to my company, VSA Entertainment, in any way. If you only want to hear the audio Blog you should subscribe to ‘Who Cares if You Listen?‘

Now, that I’ve told you what I’m doing, Let me tell you a little about who I am and why I’m doing this.

I’m professional musician and amateur sequential artist who has done a bunch of work both live and in the studio in a bunch of different styles. and I’ve been an educator for 10 years at the college level.

But I’ve had to do so much work just to pay the bills I’ve never really been able to do anything artful for myself.

For years I relied on the ‘multiple income stream’ method of making money as a freelance musician. To live. I played live, recorded as both a player and an audio engineer, and I taught.

So a few years ago I got the idea that if I increased the amount of money I made from one of those income streams (without increasing hours) I could take chances with some of the other income streams.

So I went back to school for music composition and I’m planing on going to school for sequential art. Now that my first Masters degree is complete I just acquired a higher profile teaching job at the Art Institute in Atlanta and because of the way they organize their courses, it has freed up a great deal of my time in a way that allows me to do these podcasts.

I’ve actively turned down work with other artists as well as road work so that I can do this: teach for money and be creative to feed my soul.

So here we go: I hope you enjoy listening or watching a tenth as much as I enjoyed creating.

Revisionist History, a CD/DVD by Alan OW Barnes, ships this April.

This interesting project includes the programmatic musical feature: A Millennia in Alexandria, a 22 minute instrumental work in 4 movements.

It also includes the short film: Destiny Manifest, a story about 4 abandoned children caught in the middle of the Mexican American War. The film is not acted, but rather, illustrated and narrated, much like a storybook video for adults.

The CD/DVD will be available from most fine entertainment outlets (such as Amazon, Best Buy, Boarders, etc…unfortunately, by special order only), as well as most major digital distributors (such as iTunes, Yahoo Music, Napster, etc.).

If you’d like a taste of the work, a low-resolution version of Destiny Manifest will be netcast on this site as well as youtube, and will be available as a podcast by rss feed, iTunes, Podcast Alley, etc.
